Afghanistan's agricultural sector is the backbone of its economy, yet it faces severe volatility due to extreme temperature fluctuations and water scarcity. The reliance on traditional farming methods has created an urgent need for high-stability pesticides for plants that can withstand high UV exposure and arid soil conditions without degrading rapidly.
From an industrial perspective, the market for industrial raw materials remains heavily dependent on imports. Local manufacturers of basic chemical products struggle with the purity of intermediates, which hinders the development of indigenous pharmaceutical and electronic material production, particularly in the realm of liquid crystal components.
Environmental pressures have shifted the focus toward sustainable chemistry. There is a growing trend among vegetable growers in the Kabul and Herat regions to transition toward organic pesticides for vegetables to meet stricter export standards for regional trade, requiring a more sophisticated supply chain of bio-based raw materials.
